| Self-sufficient: Stand-alone Power Supply on the Isle of Eigg |
Stand-alone power systems are attractive not only to emerging countries, but for any region where connection to a cross-regional power distribution grid is too expensive or technically unfeasible.A prime example of this is the Isle of Eigg, one of the Inner Hebrides islands off the coast of Scotland, where SMA's modular off-grid system technology allows for 95 percent of the island's energy to be generated from renewable energy sources. The island has therefore become a model for energy supply projects, and demonstrates that large modular solar hybrid systems can be a reality, even today.
YES, WE CAN !!!
